» Combat Roles
Within the 16 Air Assault Brigade everyone has a specific role within the unit - each person trains with their Section for their role to make sure they know what they are doing when on the battlefield.
The below are the roles that the 16AA has and what they do when in the field :
Platoon Commander
- To organise and lead on Operation/Exercises.
Platoon Sergeant
- To ensure that the Platoon Commanders intent is followed through and to also take over should the Platoon Commander become unavailable.
Platoon Medic
- To ensure that all Section Medics are doing their job properly and to organise medical treatment for priority casualties on the battlefield.
Section Commander
- To lead and organise sections and ensure that the their section carries out their assigned tasks properly.
Section 2IC
- To lead the second fire team, ensure that the Section Commanders orders are carried out fully and to also take command should the Section Commander become unavailable.
Section Medic
- To provide on the spot first aid to any member of their section that is wounded in the field.
Section Automatic Rifleman
- To provide fire to supress the enemy to allow their section to close with and destroy any enemy positions.
Rifleman
- The integral member of any section.
Pilot
- Pilots have several tasks, from transporting sections to missions then extracting them, to CASEVACing any critical casualties on the front line.
